Bailiff's
Diary: March 2010
w/e 2nd April
Welcome to the start of another season!!!
What a bit of a downer weather
wise to start, nothing worse than rain on a Sat morning,
to be
honest lads, the week did see a fair bit of wild, wet and
windy weather 2-5 degrees at nights, highs of 12-15 degrees
during the day, 2 weeks before the start there was ice on
the lakes, a week later we saw the first swallows of the
year, we couldn't “believe it”, never seen
them that early before. Due to the long and cold winter both
here and in France the carp are only just starting to wake
up (last years milder winter meant sport took off from the
off!!)
The raging hooley that got
up Wednesday night certainly got things going and perked
up the fishing. Coupla lads suffered
cos they hadn't pegged their bivvies down enough. Due
to the colder weather first week, big beds of bait was not
the thing to do, stringers and P.V.A bags crumbled or chopped
boilies, was the way to go. The Zig Rigs produced a few fish
as well, Cell or Grange tipped with a bit of yellow plastic
corn, accounted for a lot of fish, particularly as they were
not in a feeding mood.

The Lodge
You will be pleased
to notice however that the Lodge on Lake 2 has been
refurbed, no easy task to paint those ceilings, many
thanks to Sean Fretwell and his lads who supplied the
towers and the paint brushes, and four days hard work!!!
We have put up new picture
frames and will shortly put up various photos
from last |

season,
taken from my bailiffs diary on the website, as soon as Arron gets back from
his holiday, Zen tells me they’ll start printing
the photos, Zen’s got no idea how to do
it, he’s still struggling to use that I phone of
his, he’s got every football app going (Arsenal)
mainly. |
| |
Speaking
of football as we all do here!! For this years World
Cup June we have installed a state of the art 42” plasma
HD telly, with the Sky HD package for your entertainment,
so any football or Grand Prix you can now watch in
HD (don’t even bother to ask to watch any of
the soaps) unless you’re a good looking young
lady of course. |
 |
 |
What
could be better???
Fishing and football together!!!
Let's hope Arsenal teach them a lesson on Tues night
hey!!! (in HD) |

Earl of Haverhill’’ was doing the business
again, taking a haul of 30 fish (last count.)
A brace
of commons the best of 41lb’s & 47lb’s
and a bonus cat of 85lb’s, didn’t think
they’d be active in the cold weather. |
 |

Andy Gage 47.8lb Common DL1 |

Jay Farthing 41lb Mirror DL1 |
 |
<<<
Jeremy Farthing ‘’3 Steps’’ had
a catch of 8 fish, the best a 41lb mirror on the

using the little and often approach.
So this weeks "Top
Bombin" award goes to the "35th
Earl of Haverhill" for his haul
of 30 Carp. Well done fella!!! |
 |

Scott Kean 40lb Common DL1 |
|
Quite a few guys didn't hand in their catch report forms which does not help me and the "diary" reports, so if you would not mind lads, please!!
There were only three lads on 3 this week the other five drive and survive didn't arrive!! (That’s almost poetic.) We heard nothing from them; we hope
they are OK wherever they are!! The reduced pressure, doesn't always mean you’ll catch more fish so it normally means they have got more room to avoid you.

Neil Ditchman 36.8lb Mirror DL3 |
 |
However
the three lads all caught. <<<
Neil Ditchman peg
6 had a best 96lb Cat on Fusion.
Richard
Bright >>> peg
2 had them up to 42lb.
Mick
Forbes >>> peg
8 also on the Cell had a brace of 40’s
both Commons of 43lbs and 44lbs.
Sid
the Bailiff >>> had 6 out,
44lb Mirror, 45lb Common, and then his first
50lb
of the
season, a Common of 53lb-12ozs
on the Cell, from the Bailiffs swim. |
| |
Lake 4
Wayne Cox >>> peg
1 had a 15 fish catch inc a brace of 40lb Mirrors,
a 46lb and a 47lb on the Cell,
plus a bonus Cat of 69lb. His three mates caught
just the odd carp, the colder weather put the
mockers
on them for the first week.
|
 |

Wayne Cox 46.5lb Mirror DL4 |
| |

Martin Walden 51lb Mirror DL5 |
 |
Lake

Jason Casey >>> peg

Cat.
Duncan
Raithley peg 3 had 7 fish up to 41lb on Active-8 and pineapple
